Fungus

The Fungus grower stems from the idea of creating a small, freely placeable household object that creates the right conditions for the cultivation and growth of edible mushrooms. By exploiting the unglazed ceramic’s property of absorbing water, the water contained in the outer cavity slowly penetrates the central volume, causing the spores (which can be easily purchased) contained inside to germinate. The outer cavity also acts as an insulator, maintaining the right temperature and humidity. The perforated lid allows air to circulate inside in a controlled manner. All this is made possible by the geometry and material of the object, which can only be realised with LDM 3D printing technology.
